U18 Match Preview | Cardiff City vs. Charlton Athletic

Academy
Cardiff City’s U18 side return to the Professional Development League on Wednesday (22/2), hosting Charlton Athletic at Cardiff International Sports Campus – 2pm kick-off.

The young Bluebirds return to midweek action as they try and keep up their push for PDL South glory.
Steve Jenkins’ side come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat away to Colchester United. A 75th minutes winner for the U’s scored by Kenny Mupomba was enough for Colchester to take the spoils.

While the result would not be what the team would’ve wanted, it was a good chance for some of the U16 squad to get some valuable minutes under their belt, especially with some of the U18 players away on international duty.

On Wednesday, we will be hosting Charlton Atheltic. The Addicks currently sit second in the PDL South, one place above City, but the Bluebirds do have a game in hand.

Jason Pearce’s side come into this game after 4-1 defeat to fifth placed Watford last Monday.

These two sides played at the back end of January, with the London side coming out on top, winning 2-1. After Tana Jones opened the scoring, Charlton responded with a goal from Henry Rylah before the forward completed his brace three minutes before full time.
