Cardiff City’s U18 side return to the Professional Development League on Wednesday (12/4), as they face Ipswich Town at the Ipswich Town Training Centre – 1pm kick-off.

Having not been in action since April 1st, the U18s return with an important game in Suffolk.

Last time out, City battled well but were beaten 4-2 by PDL North side Sheffield United. The Bluebirds scored through Morgan Lewis and Troy Perrett, but a brace for Kurtis Havenhand, one for Sam Aston and own goal sealed the win for the Blades.

That result leaves the Bluebirds in fourth place in the PDL South, with Charlton, Millwall and Reading lying above them. However, City do a have a game in hand over all three teams.

Steve Jenkins, U18 Head Coach...

Wednesday sees Steve Jenkins’ side make the trip east to face Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys currently sit bottom of the PDL South, having picked up 24 points from their 21 games so far this season.

They are coming into this fixture off of the back of a heavy 7-2 defeat away at Barnsley at the end of March.

The two sides met at the beginning of March, with the Bluebirds running out 3-1 winners. Japhet Matondo had put the hosts in front, but a Tom Taylor header levelled things up.

A second goal for Matondo and one for Will Spiers made it a comfortable win for City, and they will be hoping for more of the same on Wednesday afternoon.
