Burnley U21 preview

U21 Match Preview | Cardiff City vs. Burnley

Academy
Cardiff City's U21 side continue their PDL campaign with a return to Leckwith on Tuesday afternoon - 1pm KO.

For those who wish to attend Tuesday afternoon's meeting with the Clarets, admission to the Cardiff International Sports Stadium is free of charge for all! Cardiff City TV will also be livestreaming the fixture via the Club's official YouTube channel.

The young Bluebirds' next outing will be their third in a week, following their league victory against Sheffield United and last Friday's Premier League Cup match against Reading.

Meanwhile, the Clarets have not yet earned a point from three league matches so far this season, falling to defeats against Charlton Athletic, Reading and most recently Queens Park Rangers, scoring a single goal in their campaign to date.

Darren Purse

Speaking ahead of the fixture, U21s Manager Darren Purse discussed the challenge of preparing for another fixture in a short amount of time, and how the young side will need to overcome it as they continue their development.

“The First Team play three games in a week quite a lot, and the young lads have to realise that,” Darren explained. “After a defeat like we had against Reading it’s important to be able to pick yourselves up.

"The physical and mental exertions of that are part of the game, and that’s what the boys are learning to deal with as they continue their progression.

"We want to be putting in performances at home for the supporters who've turned out to watch us, and it will be a different occasion at Leckwith compared to our last time out at CCS.

"The boys will need to bounce back from our last result and look to continue our winning run in the league."
