Cardiff City's U21 side begin their 2022/23 PDL season by hosting the Posh at CCS on Tuesday afternoon - 12pm KO.

Following a successful pre-season for the young Bluebirds, the opening match of the new league campaign will be free for all to attend on Tuesday afternoon! Entrance for this match will be via Gate 2 at CCS.

The Posh concluded the 2021/22 season in sixth place on the PDL North table, having accrued 22 points across the course of their most recent campaign.

Darren Purse

Ahead of the fixture, U21s Manager Darren Purse spoke to cardiffcityfc.co.uk to preview an exciting start to the new campaign.

"We're in a good place going into the season," began Darren. "It's been a tough week with the weather but we're looking forward to it.

"The opportunity to start the season in the starting eleven as well as playing at CCS against tough opposition are great incentives for the boys to have put in performances both in training and whilst playing throughout pre-season, and we've had players step up to it.

"I'm hoping that we get a good turnout from the City supporters. With CCS being free to enter and the kids off school it's a great opportunity for them to come along and watch our new signings and the players that are coming through at this football club. Hopefully we'll have plenty there to cheer the lads along as we look for a winning start to the season.

"From our new signings adding more experience to the group and our second-year scholars stepping up throughout pre-season, we've seen some really good performances, and the starting eleven on Tuesday should reflect that."
