Cardiff City’s U23 team host Ipswich Town U23 in the Professional Development League at Cardiff City Stadium on Monday, March 9th – 1pm kick-off and free entry!

The Opposition

Ipswich Town U23 currently sit seventh in the Professional Development League Group South standings with 22 points, having had six wins, four draws and nine losses in 2019/20 to date.

The Tractor Boys concluded the 2018/19 Group South campaign in first place with 30 more points than they currently have, having played nine more games.

Monday’s visitors have scored 30 and conceded 35 goals in the Professional Development League so far this season, which leaves them with a goal difference of -5.

Last season, the Blues netted 67 goals and conceded 38 in Group South - tallying a goal difference of +29 - before going on to lose 3-0 to Birmingham City U23 in the Professional Development League Semi-Final.

In the Hot Seat

Gerard Nash is Ipswich Town’s Senior Professional Development Coach and has been since July 2016.

The former Tractor Boys defender was promoted from being their Lead Professional Development Coach, a role which he held since July 2012.

Following his retirement as an Ipswich Town player, the now 33-year-old was appointed the Blues’ Assistant Academy Manager in July 2006.
