Steve Morison made four changes from last time out as Dillon Phillips, Tom Sang, Keenan Patten and Mark Harris started.

The Bluebirds began on top and took their opening opportunity after ten minutes, when Evans fired into the top corner from the edge of the box to send his side ahead.

City immediately hunted their second goal and it came 11 minutes later. Forward Davies finished at close range from Rubin Colwill’s lovely low cross.

The visitors came close to getting a goal back with 25 minutes played. Albie Armin stormed forward and headed the ball off the crossbar.

After the interval, the opening opportunity of the second period went to Ipswich. Fraser Alexander found himself through on goal and was denied by goalkeeper Phillips.

City responded by nearing a third on two occasions in the space of a minute. Forward Harris’ powerful effort was kept out by Bert White with 53 minutes played, before Jack Bodenham’s header was saved from the resulting corner.

The Tractor Boys had a chance to reduce the deficit just beyond the hour mark. Harvey Curtis found himself one-on-one with stopper Phillips, who produced another fine stop.

City’s next big opportunity came with 73 minutes played. Midfielder Colwill sped into the box to hammer a header on target, but stopper White saved.

But the Bluebirds did find their third goal after 84 minutes. Determined Davies sweetly struck the ball into the bottom corner to secure a brace.

And it was a fourth goal for the hosts just two minutes later. Davies neared a hat-trick finding himself in on goal, but his strike was saved before substitute Idowu tapped in.

That proved to be the final goal of the match as City secured three points and back-to-back victories.
