The Bluebirds' starting lineup included several players who had recently returned from loan spells at other clubs, including Mark Harris, who scored a brace in his last appearance for City against Colchester United last week.

The first half of the match went by without any major chances for either team, aside from Sam Bowen's effort midway through the opening period. The midfielder took a shot and the ball looked bound for goal, but was denied by the right post, bouncing away to safety for the hosts.

With his next shot on goal five minutes into the second half, Bowen put his side ahead. Once again shooting from an angle, his low shot flew in at the far post, beating 'keeper Ben Wilson as he broke the deadlock.

The Bluebirds looked set to hold onto their lead for the remainder of the encounter, but were unfortunate to concede from a set piece with 15 minutes remaining. Declan Drysdale flicked on a corner kick with his head, which was hit on the half-volley by Jordan Ponticelli, equalising for the hosts.

With the match ending as the two sides were made to share the points, City will go into their next match unbeaten in two as they face Crystal Palace away from home on Monday, 27th January.
