Warnock pre-Millwall: We’ll have to show character

Interviews
After earning a point against Sheffield Wednesday last time out, the Bluebirds head to The Den on Tuesday evening to face Millwall.

Ahead of our meeting with the Lions, City boss Neil Warnock spoke to cardiffcityfc.co.uk as he looked forward to the trip to South East London.

“We'll have to show character at The Den,” the Gaffer began. “It’s a really great crowd for the home side. You know you’re in for a right game, but we have had some good ones down there over the years, and I’m sure we’ll give them a good match on Tuesday night.”

Millwall, who fell to a late 3-2 defeat at Brentford on the weekend, announced the appointment of Gary Rowett on Monday evening, as he succeeds ex-Bluebird Neil Harris. However, the former Stoke City boss won't take the reigns from caretaker manager Adam Barrett until the Potters visit The Den this Saturday.

“Neil Harris did a great job over the last few years,” continued Warnock. “They’ve got a good group of players with good fans. It will be hard, but we’ve got as good a chance as any team. I hope our fans can get there in numbers to get behind the lads.”

With two away tests lying in wait for the Bluebirds, the Gaffer was in positive spirits as he finished by looking forward to this week’s challenges.

“We’ve got a tough week, with Millwall and Swansea to come,” he concluded. “We don’t fear anybody, but we’ve just got to stop making silly mistakes that we’ve been making this season. There’s an away win around the corner, and let’s hope it comes this week.”
