Dean Whitehead on the touchline at CCS...

Whitehead post-Millwall | It's a difficult result to take

Interviews
Dean Whitehead spoke to the media after City's clash with Millwall.

“It’s probably a game that typifies our season really,” Dean started. “We had a lot of good play, we got into good areas, but the final pass, the final cross, the final finish hasn’t been there.

“Cedric’s been colossal for us all season, but he had a lapse in concentration and that final bit of defending has cost us today, and that goal changes the game. Millwall could sit behind the ball and go on the counter attack. It’s difficult to take in the end.”

While the result didn’t go their way, Whitehead was pleased with how the team got into dangerous areas throughout the contest.

“We put a team out on the pitch today that we felt was the strongest team we could pick. The performance was a good one, we did a lot of really good things.

“In the first half we had two really good chances. When Sheyi goes down the left and squares it across to Jaden, and then when Robbo put Jaden through one-on-one.

“We have to be ruthless in those moments and we lack that at the moment.

“Confidence comes with winning games, and we’re not doing that, and it’s our job to change that.

“But we are getting into good areas. We had more attempts on goal today, crosses going into the box. Ultimately the squad needs help, we need players in to freshen up the building, freshen up the squad. If we can do that then we will do it.”
