Steve Morison spoke to the press ahead of Saturday's return to Sky Bet Championship action, with the Bluebirds set to host Blackburn Rovers.

Focussing on Saturday's fixture, as well as a busy schedule over the coming weeks, the City boss spoke of the importance of every squad member needing step up to the challenge when called upon.

“Blackburn have got some excellent players, including one of the top goalscorers in the league as well," he began. "We’re going to need to be at the top of our game, and to be the best version of ourselves to get the result, which is what we’re planning on this weekend.

“We need numbers, and for squad members to help us out as we come into a very busy period. With the added FA Cup fixture too, everyone is going to have to play their part."

With City's first signing of the January transfer window coming on Wednesday, Steve expressed his delight at having Cody Drameh join the Club on loan, in addition to Sunday's FA Cup victory giving the Manager decisions to make ahead of the weekend.

“Cody’s an attacking, athletic, and quick player who has come in to help us out," he continued. "Hopefully he can add something to us on the pitch. We’re really pleased, obviously it’s his first time playing at Championship level so we’ll see how he gets on.

“Changing the team for our Cup match gave other people the opportunity to impress, and we won the game. It’s a good place to be as a manager because you’ve got a lot of people who have done well when called upon, and when you’re picking from a winning team it gives you more options.

“Ryan Wintle played a part in getting us over the line on Sunday. We managed him in terms of his playing time, having come back from his loan spell. He was excellent when he came on, as was everyone else."

Steve concluded: “I think that we’ve got good competition across the board. It brings out the best in everybody, and it can really push people to step up their game.

“With that in mind, it’s my job now to pick a team that I see as the best to beat Blackburn."
