Cardiff City finished Saturday afternoon in the top half of the Barclays Premier League following their 1-1 draw with Hull City at KC Stadium.

The Bluebirds fell behind to a Curtis Davies header late in the first half, though equalised just before the hour mark thanks to a beautifully worked goal, dispatched with aplomb by Peter Whittingham

“After that Aron Gunnarsson had a headed chance he felt he should have scored from which would have put us ahead. On the flip-side Danny Graham probably thought he should have scored with his header near the end.

“There were periods for both teams in this game where they were dominant on the ball. We both tried to win it and each had chances to do so.

“Both teams were hard at it. Hull have started their season comfortably and they have an experienced manager who I know well. We knew how tough this would be and we came out with a deserved point.

“We have earned five points and have twice come back from losing positions to get something from matches. That takes character and resilience.

“We were without Craig Bellamy and David Marshall, who were both injured on international duty, and it doesn’t help to lose key players.

“But we have strength in depth and will be competitive, organised and extremely fit over the season. We have no illusions how tough this is going to be, but I am relishing the challenge and so are our players.”

When asked for his reaction to the equaliser post match, the midfielder commented: “I was pleased to score as it was a great team move by the lads in the build up. More importantly it brought us back into the game.

“I think when you look at our first four games – taking into account the opposition we've been up against – then we must be happy to have taken five points and be unbeaten in our last three. We'll now re-group and get ready for Tottenham next weekend.”
