CLUB NOMINATED FOR NATIONAL SOCIAL MEDIA AWARD

History

In recognition of 'Club Goal of the Months reach, Cardiff City FC has become a finalist in the Community Club of the Year category of the first ever Social Media Awards for the broad Hospitality and Leisure sector.

The Hospitality Social Media Awards (HSMA)  are designed to celebrate the very best in social media communications, recognising those who are using online platforms to communicate in fresh and innovative ways - websites, Facebook, Instagram, apps and everything in-between.

Judges have been scouring the country and the internet to find clubs and outlets that are using social media to engage with the public, build their business and spread their good news – whether that’s work in the community, charity work or match day news.

As a finalist Cardiff City FC will be attending the Awards Event on November 23 in Manchester.

The Awards are hosted by the publishers of many club focussed magazines - Club Mirror, Club Rugby, Sports Club Management, Clubhouse Europe and Sports4bars.com

The event aims to recognise the very best in social media communications and as a result has tied up with high profiles suppliers and supporters from BT Sport and Fraser Brown solicitors to the Buell Group and SA Brains. The event is also being supported by many Club Associations from all parts of the club sector from golf through to football and everything in between.

Speaking of the nomination, Cardiff City Executive Director & CEO Ken Choo reflected: “We are extremely proud of the work that goes into the local community here in South Wales, both from Cardiff City Football Club, and the Cardiff City Foundation.

“The Club Goal of the Month competition in particular is a hugely important part of our work, and symbolises the togetherness, unity and inclusion within this Club at every level.

“We have been delighted to see the competition continue to grow. It is a pioneering initiative, and one which has earned plaudits on a national level, along with several other aspects of our work in the community.

“To be nominated for the ‘Community Club of the Year’ at the 2016 Social Media Awards for the interactive element to it is equally very rewarding.”
