U18 | FUTURE CITY STARS DEFEAT ADDICKS

Club News

Cardiff City's U18 side overcame Charlton Athletic, 2-1, in Professional Development League 2 South action on Friday afternoon.

The young Bluebirds fell behind early on, Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu finding the back of the net for the home team at Sparrows Lane.

Matthew Bloxham and Jarred Harvey's side went into this match on the back of a positive start to 2016, and refused to let their heads drop despite falling behind. Jamie Bird continued his impressive form with the equalising goal to ensure City went in at the break level. Bird scored a hat-trick against Crystal Palace last week, with his fantastic individual effort from early in the second half of that game, below.

In a tight second half, it was Cardiff who managed to score the crucial third goal of the game, Lloyd Humphries getting himself on the score-sheet, with what turned out to be the winning goal.

The future City stars will now turn their attention towards Wednesday's huge FA Youth Cup match with Liverpool Football Club. Highlights of all competitive U18 and U21 fixtures can be found on Cardiff City Player HD
