CLUB CONNECTIONS



City defensive duo Matt Connolly and Sean Morrison spent time together at the Madejski Stadium. Morrison turned out for the Royals from 2011-2014, making a total of forty-five appearances for the side. Meanwhile, Connolly had a brief spell at the Club in 2012, making six appearances in their promotion year, before joining the Bluebirds.

Reading manager Brian McDermott played for the Bluebirds in the late eighties, and was a major part of the 1987/88 City team that won promotion from the old Division Four. One of his men, Chris Gunter is another who could line up against his former side this weekend. The right-back came through City’s academy before moving on to Tottenham Hotspur, and has featured in all of the Royals’ League and Cup matches this season.
