Bamba: Tonight we're disappointed; tomorrow's another day

Sol Bamba gave a rousing post-match press conference on Friday evening, saying that a “strong” Cardiff City squad will regroup and put the frustrations of defeat to Wolves behind them.

The Bluebirds’ first league defeat of 2018 saw them slip a little off their opponent’s table-topping pace, but centre-back Sol assured supporters that there was still plenty to be confident about going into the season’s remaining games.

“We never get too high when we win or too low when we lose,” said Sol. “We’re obviously disappointed, but we’ll pick ourselves up and go again now. Sometimes football isn’t fair, but you move on.

“We’re going to try and win as many of these remaining six games as we can. We’re disappointed, but we’ll get over this.

“We play football to play in big games. I think everybody saw the effort we put in [against Wolves], but unfortunately we came out on the wrong side of the result.”

The Bluebirds remain five points clear of third-placed Fulham and travel to fourth-placed Aston Villa on Tuesday evening.

But Bamba’s response when asked how the squad will react going forward was emphatic, simply stating: “We don’t look down, we look up. It’s business as usual and we’re not worried about anybody in the league.

“We stick together as a group, win or lose. This is a strong group and it’s our job [as senior players] to make sure everyone rests up and then goes again.

And to close proceedings, Bamba’s message to Bluebirds supporters was emphatic.

He said: “Nobody expected us to be here and I’m confident we’ll be okay. Enjoy yourselves and stick behind us, like I’m sure [you] will.

“Tonight we’re disappointed, but tomorrow is another day.”
