Match Report | Cardiff City 0-0 Charlton Athletic

Match Reports
Cardiff City were forced to settle for a point at home against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday, June 30th.

Neil Harris made three changes to the side that defeated Preston North End on the weekend with Robert Glatzel, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Marlon Pack replacing Callum Paterson, Junior Hoilett & Will Vaulks, all of whom took up spots on the subs bench.

Dion Sanderson’s strike from distance failed to challenged Dillon Phillips in the Charlton Athletic goal after two minutes.

The best chance of the first half came just after the quarter of an hour mark when Aston Villa loanee Andre Green found space in the City box. Central defender Curtis Nelson recovered well to block Green’s attempted effort.

The opening 45 was curtailed when Bluebirds striker Glatzel and Charlton midfielder Sam Field clashed heads with 32 minutes on the clock. The Addicks midfielder came off immediately, while Glatzel continued for ten minutes before having to be replaced by Callum Paterson. Seven minutes were added on at the end of the half for the huge stoppage in play, but neither side could take advantage.

Jake Forster-Caskey looked certain to open the scoring just after the hour mark, but another fine tackle from City defender Nelson stopped the midfielder from having a strike at goal.

City's best chance of the match came on 67 minutes as Joe Ralls fed Albert Adomah down the left side. The on-loan winger, took a touch before firing across goal left footed, only for Phillips to pull off a fine save.

Substitute Junior Hoilett couldn't divert home at an acute angle after being found by fellow winger Adomah with 13 minutes remaining. A match of few chances eventually ending with a point each.
