HUDDERSFIELD PREVIEW | HARRIS

Neil Harris spoke at the Vale Resort ahead of the Bluebirds’ Wednesday evening clash at Huddersfield Town.

Before setting off to West Yorkshire for City’s second of three matches this week, Harris explained that his side would need to be fully prepared for the challenge of the conditions at the John Smith's Stadium.

“It’s going to be cold and blustery but those are things you have to deal with,” he said.

“At this stage of the Championship, you’re not always expecting pretty games anyway. It will be competitive and we’ll try and make sure we make the best of the conditions and come out on top.”

With Saturday’s victory over Luton Town in mind, the City boss emphasised the important of maintaining momentum in the matches ahead.

“There’s been a spring in the step in the group over the past couple of weeks,” he continued. “The transfer window is done and everything is settled. It’s a working group now – people want to learn and work for the group.

“We’re looking forward to each game. It’s up to us to concentrate on ourselves. We know where we want to be and it’s about getting there.”

Finally, following Monday’s new U23 coaching set-up announcement, Harris revealed his satisfaction with the appointment.

“We’re really pleased,” he added. “There were an outstanding number of candidates and we were really impressed with the calibre of them.

“Tom [Ramasut] provides continuity and understanding of the flow of our Academy from 18s, to 23s and first team. Steve [Morison] brings a wealth of experience from the Football League, Premier League and the international set-up, where those contacts are important.

“He’s always wanted to coach, he knows my thought processes about bringing young players through when they’re ready. It’s about that professionalism and guidance off the pitch too.

“It should excite the fans, because they ultimately want to see Cardiff City fans playing for the first team in the coming years.”
