City favourite passes on Foundation mantle to Marc Cahill

Scott vacates his former position as Community Foundation Manager with immediate effect, leaving behind a lasting legacy that has seen huge growth and progress for the Foundation over the past nine years. It now operates to reach over 45,000 people in the local communities of South-East Wales, whereas that figure was just 4,000 back in 2005.

 

Marc Cahillwill take up the role of Community Foundation Manager, having been a big part of the Foundation’s growth as Scott’s Assistant over the past decade.

"You’ve only got to look at the results that they achieved last season to see that each of these young players have a great chance of making it into the professional game. I’ve had a number of sessions with the group already and these have filled me with confidence.

 

“I’d hope that I can pass on my experiences – from coming through the ranks at Cardiff and making it to the first-team – to our current crop of youngsters. My passion is coaching and I have high hopes for what we want to be another exciting year.”

 

Scott also paid tribute to the staff of the Community Foundation, confident that he leaves the group in very safe hands. He continued: “The Foundation, at present, is at a very exciting stage of its development.

 

“I’ve had the privilege of being surrounded by a strong team of coaches and teachers who have been incredibly pro-active and diligent in developing us across South Wales. I know that this will continue under Marc Cahill who has been an exceptional support to me and will flourish as the Foundation’s new Manager.

 

“I want to wish Marc and the Foundation all the very best of luck and thank them for the exceptional support and efforts that they’ve given over the past nine years.”

 

Marc Cahilladded: “Scott and I have had an excellent working relationship over the past ten years. I’ve known him since his playing days and to see him move into the coaching structure at Cardiff City fills me with confidence that great things are to come for our youngsters.

 

“I look forward to managing the Community Foundation, embracing the challenges it brings, and further embellishing the hard work that Scott and I have done together to this stage.”
