DAVID MARSHALL NAMED CARDIFF CITY PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2013-14

Goalkeeper David Marshall was named Cardiff City Football Club Player of the Year and Clubman of the Year for the 2013-14 season at Cardiff City Stadium.

Announced at the annual Cardiff City Supporters Club awards evening on Wednesday night, the Scotland International picked up the double award after an outstanding season for the Bluebirds, one that saw him make more saves than any other goalkeeper in the Barclays Premier League.

Speaking after the award, Marshall said: “It’s a fantastic honour to be named Cardiff City Player of the Year and Clubman of the Year."

Other awards on the night saw young defender Declan John named Young Player of the Year after making 22 appearances for the Bluebirds in all competitions in a breakthrough year for the young Welsh International.

A popular choice at the Cardiff City Supporters Club awards, John said: “It’s been a pretty crazy season for me. Making my debut against West Ham and kicking on from there.

“To me I just want to go out and play football. To do that in the Premier League this season just makes it even better. I just want to keep kicking on now.”

Meanwhile Cardiff City’s Goal of the Season award was handed to midfielder Jordon Mutch for his last minute strike against Fulham at Craven Cottage, a goal that saw the Bluebirds claim a 2-1 win and their first Barclays Premier League away victory of the season.
