Report: Briton Ferry Llansawel Ladies 0-6 Cardiff City FC Women

Women

Cardiff City FC Women started the 2018/19 WPWL season in style with a 6-0 victory at Old Road on Sunday, September 2nd.

Joel Hutton’s side started the game brightly and broke the deadlock after 21 minutes. Following strong play on the wing, Catherine Walsh headed home a delightful cross from left-back Montana May.

With the visitors dominating the play, the lead was doubled shortly before the interval. May switched from provider to scorer as she kept her composure to make it 2-0.

The persistent Bluebirds looked to increase their goal tally in the second half and it took 13 minutes for them to do so after the break. Lively striker Alana Murphy clinically dispatched the ball into the back of the net to increase a comfortable lead.

With less than 15 minutes remaining, Catherine Walsh and Alana Murphy both scored four minutes apart to each earn a brace.

Cardiff City FC Women return to league action on Sunday, September 9th when they travel to face Llandudno Ladies at Maesdu Park.
