Cerys Pinchard in action for City...

Good luck, Cerys!

Women
Last Tuesday's friendly with Bridgwater United FC Women saw one player make their final appearance (for now) in City blue.

Cerys Pinchard, Bluebirds full-back for the past two seasons, is moving to the United States of America to play football and study for four years.

"I'm going to Central Methodist University in Missouri to study sports management and to play varsity soccer in a very competitive NAIA team," Cerys explained to us after Tuesday's match. “My time here has been insane. I've learnt so much from the girls and the coaching staff. I'd like to thank Iain for giving me the opportunity. That in itself was amazing and to play one last time on Tuesday was nice.

"I'm super excited about the future. I am gutted to leave the girls behind, but they've pushed me and helped me to get this chance and I feel like it is the right time."

Cardiff City FC Women head coach Iain Darbyshire added: "Since the first day Cerys walked in on trial, she's been an absolute pleasure to coach. It is a shame she's moving on because we'll miss her, but to have the opportunity to go and play in America is wonderful. I think she'll go right to the very top. Her attitude is spot on. She's great around the girls. She's made friends for life here and she's always welcome back. But she's made the right choice for her at this stage of her life.

"It's great to see that our players are seeing these chances to study abroad or making a career in the game. We only want to help people do that. That's why we do what we do. Cerys is an incredible person. She'll have a great career in America."

We’d like to wish Cerys all the very best during her four years overseas!
