Phoebie Poole wins 2020/21 WPWL Young Player of the Season Award

Women
Forward Phoebie Poole has today been named Young Player of the Season for the 2020/21 Welsh Premier Women's League.

The Welsh U19 international, who only turned 17 in March, scored 22 competitive goals in just 19 fixtures during the last campaign, top scoring for the Bluebirds, who finished third in the league.

Two incredible highlights of Phoebie's first season with City saw the striker net back-to-back hat-tricks, first at Cardiff City Stadium in the league against Briton Ferry Llansawel before 10 days later scoring all three goals in a 3-2 WPWL Cup semi-final victory over Cardiff Met.

"I'm buzzing," Phoebie said, discussing her award. "I felt honoured to firstly win Cardiff City FC Women's Young Player of the Season in May and now WPWL Young Player of the Season for 2020/21. It was a really good start to my footballing journey last term.

"The new season isn't far off now and we want to go even further as a squad this year. We want to challenge all teams in our division.

"From a personal standpoint, I want to show what I can do again in 2021/22 and keep that momentum going. I want to score even more. I've been working hard over the summer outside of training to get myself in the best position I can.

"Football is my life. I'm really excited for the future!"
